At a recent exhibition in Dubai YorPower demonstrated the new remote control technology that is set to make life much easier for a great many users.

The remote control unit, which can be loaded as an app onto most smartphones, tablets and computers, was demonstrated on the YorPower stand at the Middle East Electricity exhibition in Dubai (http://www.middleeastelectricity.com). From there YorPower staff and visitors were able to switch on, interrogate and switch off a generator at the company’s manufacturing plant near Leeds in the UK over 4,600 miles away!

A CCTV system, monitored on the stand, showed live images of the generator starting and stopping in response to instructions from Dubai. The remote control system allows users to monitor any number of generators linked to their system; they can obtain live information on such things as fuel levels, service indicators and even fault reports without leaving their desk. Engineers can obtain information on faults before travelling to site so that they can have any required spares to hand when they arrive – greatly reducing the number of visits needed to rectify a problem.
